Daniel Martin Moore is a musician from the Commonwealth of Kentucky who released his first album, Stray Age, in 2008, followed-up by Dear Companion in 2010, an album written and performed by Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore together (and produced by Jim James of My Morning Jacket). Part of the intention with Dear Companion was to draw attention to the problem of Mountaintop Removal (MTR) coal mining, but the music stood on its own as well. Since the release of Stray Age, Daniel stayed busy, touring with Ben and Jim (including a July ‘10 performance at the Newport Folk Festival), opening for Iron & Wine, The Swell Season and My Morning Jacket, appearing on NPR’s World Café, doing the things associated with writing, recording and releasing music. 2011 brought us In the Cool of the Day, an album of spiritual recordings hearkening back to his family & childhood. In May of 2012, his most recent album, Farthest Field, a duo-project with Joan Shelley, came into the world. He is currently in the studio with his band & a few other pals making a new record, so stay tuned!
